Team Alberta, one of the 20 collegiate teams that competed in the U.S. Department of Energy’s biennial Solar Decathlon, collaborated to construct the 800 square foot sustainable living project, SolAbode. And Multivista was there to document every step of the construction process.

Made up of students and faculty from Calgary schools, including the University of Calgary, SAIT Polytechnic, Mount Royal College and the Alberta College of Art + Design, Team Alberta spent nearly two years designing, planning and constructing the solar-powered, flexible living space according to competition standards of efficiency, affordability and consumer appeal.

Multivista Alberta donated Exact-Built™ documentation services on a weekly basis from the onset of construction in March 2009 through completion in October 2009. Our comprehensive coverage of this project included Interior & Exterior Progressions, Slideshows, Interior MEP Exact-Built™ and Finished Condition Exact-Builts™ of the interior and exterior. Once the home was transported to the United States for the competition, Multivista DC documented the remaining two weeks of the project.

Team Alberta’s SolAbode took 6th place overall at the 2009 U.S. Department of Energy’s biennial Solar Decathlon. Following the competition, the project was on display at the 2010 Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver.

Multivista was honored to be a Green Sponsor of the SolAbode project.
