When/How did your Multivista franchise get started?

It all started when we were building custom homes in Vancouver. At the time, we recognized the value of documenting in-wall and buried systems before they were covered up, but we were doing it the hard way, manually snapping photos with a 35mm camera, then printing copies and organizing them into a bulky binder. It was time-consuming and, honestly, a bit outdated. That’s when Multivista came into our lives.

They saw what we were doing and reached out. They understood the value of memorializing these systems in a more efficient way, and when they introduced us to their online platform, we immediately saw the potential. The ability to have digital access to everything, in real-time, was not only convenient but it also became an incredible collaboration tool that saved us countless hours and streamlined communication with subcontractors and consultants.

In 2008, we took on a high-profile project just outside of Calgary. The client was international, and the architect was based in Vancouver. We relocated a project manager to oversee the job, but when we called Multivista for help, we were surprised to learn there was no presence in Alberta at the time. That was when we made the decision to partner with Multivista. Bringing this game-changing tool to Alberta’s construction industry was a natural step, and it ensured we’d have the resources and support we needed for our own projects.

And so, that’s how our journey with Multivista began, from recognizing the need for smarter documentation to becoming partners and bringing this invaluable service to the Alberta market.
